Donohue Rejoices: "Pope Says Gay Couples are Not a Family"

Bill Donohue
"Pope" Bill Donohue (South Park)
Blowhard Bill Donohue (Catholic League) is in ecstasy. His religious leader has said that gay people's marriages are not really marriages.
Pope Francis says gay couples cannot be considered a family. The media know he said this but, with few exceptions, they refused to run this story. The blackout, it is easy to prove, was intentional.
Uh, this is an unlikely conspiracy because this is not news. The Catholic Church has invested heavily in preventing gay couples — of all faiths — from entering into legal civil marriage. Blowhard Bill supports the Church's efforts to impose its beliefs on everyone by force of law.
In the same spontaneous address, Pope Francis said only heterosexuals can form a family. “It is painful to say this today: People speak of varied families, of various kinds of family,” but “the family [as] man and woman in the image of God is the only one.”
That is the pope's religious opinion. It is not the legal reality. According to Wikipedia:
…same-sex marriage is recognized by law (nationwide or in some parts) in the following countries: Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Luxembourg, Malta, Mexico, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, the United Kingdom, the United States and Uruguay. Additionally, Armenia, Estonia, and Israel recognize the marriages of same-sex couples validly entered into in other countries. Same-sex marriage is also due to soon become recognized by law in Taiwan and Austria after constitutional court rulings on the subject in May and December 2017, respectively. Furthermore, after a motion lodged by Costa Rica, the Inter-American Court of Human Rights issued a ruling in favor of same-sex marriage on 9 January 2018, which is expected to facilitate recognition in several countries in the Americas.
Furthermore, Blowhard Bill would assert that a widow with five kids is a family. Yet, that same woman with the same kids married to another woman is not a family. That doesn't make a great deal of sense.

Blowhard Bill can be excused in part for his confusion over what constitutes a family because the holier-than-thou Catholic is a divorced man. Go figure.

Meanwhile the pope is also divorced. From reality.
