Gen. Jerry forgets his own BS about SPLC

Jerry Boykin
May the Lord bless us and keep us removed from Brown people, Muslims, Jews, gays and transgender people and that's just for starters.
Lt. Gen. (Ret.) Jerry Boykin is the number-two at Family Research Council, an anti-LGBT hate group. Jerry is holier-than-thou and he doesn't like the fact that FRC is designated a hate group by Southern Poverty Law Center. Gen. Jerry will say that his group simply upholds biblical values. Apparently that involves lying about a sexual minority; marginalizing the same; promoting hate and advocating “solutions” at odds with medical science.

About a year ago, Jerry said this:
I applaud D. James Kennedy Ministries for its efforts to expose the truth about the Southern Poverty Law Center, a discredited organization that has become so controversial that even the Obama Justice Department backed away from the group -- along with the FBI and U.S. Army.
He was referring to a nutty and hopeless lawsuit by D. James Kennedy Ministries (another hate group). About all that has been “exposed” is the religious right's abject stupidity. The case is awaiting merely the formality of a dismissal.

At the time I wrote that Jerry was incorrect. In point of fact he was lying — good Christian that he is. The FBI still considered SPLC a valuable resource.

Jerry has changed his mind. Sort of. According to the far-right Washington Times aka The Moonie Daily:
Jerry Boykin wasn’t thrilled to see the Southern Poverty Law Center working with Amazon or Twitter, but he’s far more alarmed about the left-leaning group’s partnership with the FBI.

“I think the FBI is making a terrible mistake by doing this, given the track record of the Southern Poverty Law Center,” said Mr. Boykin, a retired lieutenant general and former deputy undersecretary of defense for intelligence, who now serves as executive vice president of the Family Research Council.

“That is more proof of a deep state,” he said. “As far as I’m concerned, it delegitimizes so much of what the FBI does.”
The amusing part of this is that Jerry claimed that the Obama administration divorced itself from SPLC and now the Trump administration embraces the organization. Trump being Trump it would not surprise me if he issued an executive order to Justice to eliminate partnering with SPLC. He would be perfectly willing to scrap the nation's leading authority on extremism in order to satisfy Boykin's boss, Tony Perkins.

I can assure you that Trump doesn't give a ratsass about Christianity. He just knows where his base is.

In the real world — such a thing might still exist — the FBI's legitimacy would be questionable if it did not capitalize on Southern Poverty Law Center's resources to defend us from extremism. Eventually upisdownism will come to an unremarkable end. We will be normal again. Demagogues like the Demented Orange Creature usually have a finite period of existence.
