Kids should not die in order to conform science to religion

Hart: “I will continue to respond to the onslaught of false information promoted by religious groups.”
Hate group leader Michelle Cretella (American College of Pediatricians) in concert with American Family Association to misinform and mislead parents.

Friday, American Family Association, with some help from another hate group publishes Transgender movement taking advantage of kids. AFA and American College of Pediatricians (ACPeds) are anti-LGBT hate groups. They are claiming that LGBT activists are influencing young people to be transgender.

Sure. Some boy is going to wear his sister's dress to school because he is fond of the inevitable derision and he enjoys the risk of violence towards him. Apparently that makes perfect sense to AFA's Charlie Butts and ACPeds' president, Michelle Cretella.
Children are reportedly being sold out to the transgender movement in many ways – including through the use of social media.

Young people are being bombarded with messages saying that it is perfectly fine to live as the opposite gender, and too many parents are buying the idea.
Aside from the fact that they do not understand the concept of gender, what exactly is this transgender movement? Are they wed to the idea that there are people dedicated to the idea of influencing people to be transgender? The last thing that parents should do is to listen to religious crackpots who make such preposterous assertions.

Enter Dr. Michelle Cretella:
Dr. Michelle Cretella of the American College of Pediatricians told OneNewsNow that such medical practices constitute outright child abuse.

The medical expert argues that no one is born trapped in the wrong body.

“These children who feel like they don't belong in their sex – this is a sign of an underlying mental disorder,” Cretella asserted. “Could be trauma, depression, anxiety – something else in the child's life, either in the past or the present, is triggering this.”
ACPeds is a tiny hate group. The real pediatric peer group is the American Academy of Pediatrics. Cretella has not practiced or been licensed for a number of years. This has relieved her of continuing education requirements. She has authored no peer-reviewed research published to a respected academic journal.

Perhaps of greater importance is the fact that Cretella's medical knowledge is subordinate to the teachings of the Catholic Church. She willingly substitutes a belief system, based on faith, for medical science which is based on evidence.

Some children with gender dysphoria are literally compelled to transition to their gender in order to obtain some relief from their misery. Were a parent to prevent that transition, that is what would constitute child abuse. That is the judgment of the American Academy of Pediatrics. That is also the judgment of real experts in juvenile gender dysphoria.
A considerable number of youths are encouraged through social contagion – in other words, peers encouraging it, what they are being taught in school and also social media sites that they frequent.

“Many of these sites have pages that are maintained by adult transgender activists who convince these kids that what they need to be happy are hormones and surgeries so that they can impersonate the opposite sex,” Cretella asserted.
Really. How many is considerable? Where is the proof? Which sites is this idiot referring to? Cretella knows perfectly well that even if that were so (and it is not), a child will not obtain hormones on demand. He or she would have to be evaluated by a specialist in this area who would then refer him or her to an endocrinologist. In the case of surgery, Cretella also knows that children are generally not candidates and, again, this requires an evaluation and then a referral to a surgeon. Most providers require a year of counseling prior to surgery.

On rare occasions trans boys receive mastectomies because the growth of breast tissue creates enormous distress. It is rare because, if properly diagnosed, they will be on puberty blockers. The need for surgery is a possible consequence of parents listening to people like Michelle Cretella.

What Cretella should do is to challenge an expert in this field to a debate. How about Dr. Jack Turban (now at Harvard)?
The pediatrician contends that in actuality, a young person with a transgender state of mind needs psychological counseling to align with their born gender – not surgery and hormone treatment.
She has an MD so she is entitled to the “Dr.” but she is no longer a board certified pediatrician. More importantly, Cretella is never able to cite a peer-reviewed study published to a respectable academic journal concluding that gender dysphoria can be cured with talk therapy.

Cretella is a proponent of thoroughly discredited gay conversion therapy which is based on pseudoscience. She has retooled conversion therapy to convert gender identity. Where is the proof Dr. Cretella? Where?

Cretella does this because she is a defender of the Catholic faith which does not believe that transgender people exist. Hopefully parents will opt for science over faith when it comes to treating their precious children. The alternative is to make a child suffer and possibly resort to self-harm. Kids should not die in order to conform science to religion.

Readers of this blog know that I am being repetitive. I will continue to respond to the onslaught of false information promoted by religious groups. It's the least I can do for children in peril.
