Maine preachers banning banned LGBT books not really banned or, ...

Some Christian clerics in Rumford, Maine are displeased over the Rumford Public Library's promotion of Banned Books Week, September 23-29. Included in the local display are a number of LGBT themed books. Apparently the mere presence of such material  threatens to corrupt children or encourage them to become gay or trans.

Personally, as a child, I only read books with heterosexual characters. It didn't work.

Rumford Public Library display for Banned Books Week
The promotion of homosexuality

According to Dan Pearson of the Rumford Baptist Church, Justin Thacker of Praise Assembly of God, and Father Nathan March of the Parish of the Holy Savior:
We have become aware of displays that we do not believe are appropriate for a public library serving the families and people of the River Valley Area. A number of the books in the display were promoting homosexuality, such as Two Boys Kissing. … It should be held without doubt or dissension that a public library should be promoting values that contribute to the community and should not be promoting a certain religious view, set of morals or political view over and against another.
The letter goes on to claim that these books exposed children to “early sexualization.” Regarding My Lesbian Experience With Loneliness: “The topics and images presented on this tale are … not appropriate … where children are present. This, until recently, has been considered not only inappropriate but the abuse of children.”

I wonder if any of these morons would like another opportunity to display their stupidity and bigotry. There is always my comment section.

The library board wasn't having any of this idiocy and voted earlier this week to retain the books at issue.
