Hate groups exhale "victims" to inhale money

Isabella Chow
Isabella Chow, a student senator at U.C. Berkeley, is the conservative Christian victim du jour.

Financially, Family Research Council did not have a banner year in 2017 and it would cease to exist if it could not manufacture victims. The latest example is Isabella Chow, a UC Berkeley student senator who abstained from a vote condemning the Trump administration's initiative to make gender synonymous with sex.

Ms. Chow is the recipient of due opprobrium because she placed her Christian beliefs above her obligations as a student representative. Now she has become a Christian hero which required her first to be a Christian victim of those ubiquitous and dreaded LGBT activists.

Thursday night Tony Perkins writes:
If the extremists at U.C. Berkeley want Isabella Chow's senate seat, they'll have to come and take it. The Christian at the center of a campus-wide controversy isn't backing down -- no matter how ruthless the opposition is. Believing in basic biology isn't hate. And you'd think any college that wants to be taken seriously in America ought to know it.
There is nothing “extreme” in expecting a student representative to adhere to the core values of student government. Among those are:
We commit to equity, access, social justice, and an inclusive and diverse campus community.
Any student senator can be recalled at any time. The process starts with signature gathering which must equal or exceed 25% of the vote count of the prior election. About 2,800 signatures would be required. Then it is up to a vote. I can find no indication that an effort is underway to gather signatures. If it is, there is nothing “ruthless” about the process.

Perkins should really retire the “believing in basic biology” bullshit. He might believe that gender does not exist but that is false according to the overwhelming consensus of medical science.

I also note that every student senator profile includes their preferred pronouns. Clearly respect for gender is part of campus culture and apparently Ms. Chow does not respect that custom.

I am so damned tired of conservative Christians wed to the notion that they have a god-given right to interfere in the lives of others. I am so damned tired of conservative Christians who believe that their rights are superior to the rights of others. I am so damned tired of moralist conservative Christians who act immorally to others while claiming superiority.

I am so damned tired of hate group leaders like Tony Perkins shilling for manufactured victims. Brian S. Brown gets in the act and Mad Mat Staver makes a cameo (below).
Chow creates additional problems for herself every time she opens her mouth:
For Chow, the last few weeks at Berkeley haven't exactly been easy. She's been kicked out of her campus political party, screamed at on her way to class, and accused by more than 1,000 of her peers of being "violent, hypocritical, and bigoted." All because she dares to agree with thousands of years of human tradition. "As a Christian," she said before a vote to support transgenderism, "...I believe that God created male and female at the beginning of time, and designed sex for marriage between one man and one woman."
What does she expect? At Berkeley no less? She is demonstrating abject bigotry and using religion as an excuse. We are all so goddamned tired of hearing sentences beginning with “As a Christian …” She is entitled to believe anything she wants, no matter how idiotic.
The real victims are trans and gender nonconforming students who, once again, have to hear that they are deranged perverts.
Later on and I think that most Christians would disagree with Perkins:
More than anything, that reveals what the other side wants: complete and utter surrender. If you don't affirm and celebrate their lifestyle, you're a hater. As Christians, that's an impossible proposition. You can't be a true follower of Christ and embrace something that's antithetical to Scripture.
Aside from the literalist belief, Perkins is claiming that a student representative can place religion above her responsibilities to a very diverse student population. Perkins has also claimed collective victimization.

Perkins harangue is quite lengthy as a “Poor Isabella” and “Poor Us.”
But there is more:
Today I received an email from Perkins titled: We Stand with Isabella. After rehashing all of the “dreadful” things that Isabella Chow experienced at the hands of the LGBT activist mob, the hate group has started a petition:
I, the undersigned, stand with Isabella Chow as she stands fearlessly for biblical truth in love at the University of California Berkeley. No human being should be forced to affirm practices and beliefs that go against his or her conscience.
They are right but — and correct me if I am wrong — no one forced Isabella Chow to be a student representative at an extremely diverse university.
Meanwhile, guess who else chimed in?
As I was typing I received an email from Brian S. Brown of National Organization for Marriage. Brown has a mediocre intellect but he is quite proficient in victimology. His missive is titled Relentless Punishment for Expressing Common Sense.
LGBT activists like to portray their small community as victims of bigotry, hatred and harassment. They use that portrayal, with the help of their allies in the media, in a relentless push to force all of society to accept their skewed, false narrative about the intrinsic nature of men and women, and human sexuality. Consider these two cases currently in the news:
The “intrinsic nature of men and women, and human sexuality” is, of course, according to the catechism of the Catholic Church.
Isabella Chow is a student at UC Berkeley in California, and is an elected member of the campus Student Senate. She is also a Christian. LGBT activists presented a student resolution to express support for transgenderism. [blah, blah, blah]
There is no evidence of the involvement of those terrible “LGBT activists.” What the student senate was trying to do was to support medical science. Gender and sex are not synonyms.
A male PE teacher at a Florida middle school has been punished for refusing to personally oversee a female student who claims a male "gender identity" when changing in the boys locker room. … … …
Forgive me for short-circuiting the plentiful blovations of Mr. Brown. This PE teacher is one of Mad Mat Staver's “clients” at the hate group Liberty Counsel. This is part of Staver's crusade against a school psychologist. The P.E. teachers are his latest “victims.”
Pasco County administrators have threatened and silenced two P.E. teachers who objected to this Plan in order to allow a gender-confused girl into the boys’ locker room and open showers. The female student had full access to disrobe and even shower alongside unsuspecting boys.
Mad Mad is a prodigious liar which means that we do not know the full details of this matter. I am reminded that I have not followed up since I wrote about this on October 25. There is a good chance that the teacher or teachers are using this as an excuse to marginalize trans kids because of their religious conservatism.

Brown interrupts a very verbose email with this:

The solution to everything is to send along some money to NOM. This is an extremely lengthy email. I just want to quote one more part:
The promulgation of this lie is having an impact on young people. Statistically, the LGBT community makes up about 2-3% of society according to large-scale studies. The so-called transgender account for about 10% of this tiny audience, which translates into 0.2% - 0.3% of the entire population. However, because of the widespread cultural push to normalize transgenderism and LGBT behavior, a whopping 57% of young people in the US and the UK say they are not completely heterosexual and consider their sexuality to be fluid. Another study reported a nearly 400% increase in the percent of people claiming a non-conforming "gender identity".
Brown does not support his statistics with cites. My guess is that the LGBT community comprises more than 5% of the population because it is always under-sampled. This also cuts both ways. If there are so few transgender people then what is the big fucking deal with accommodations?

According to the medical science, sexual orientation is a continuum. Very few people are at the extreme ends so the 57% doesn't surprise me (although I would like to see where this comes from). Brown is also combining sexual orientation with gender identity, probably from two different sets of numbers which means that he is not accounting for overlap in order to present larger numbers which is why he doesn't provide a link in the first place. That 400% increase is extremely misleading because it represents a small number comparison.

In other words, eight might be 400% greater than two but the difference of six is inconsequential. Mr. Brown is also an accomplished liar. Lies of deception. Lies of omission. Lies of many kinds. It's all in a day's work for a orthodox Catholic moralist who is selective about morals.

If Jesus or Moses ever make a comeback, I suspect that they will be profoundly pissed at these blowhards. This is not what either had in mind.

I am glad that it is Friday because (in the words of a 1960s civil rights worker) I am sick and tired of being sick and tired.
