Mad Mat Staver: "LGBT 'rights' sneakily added to anti-lynching bill"

Hate group leader Mad Mat Staver of Liberty Counsel has been relatively quiet lately. It is very easy to make Mad Mat noisy again. The mere possibility that LGBT Americans might be subjected to less discrimination and oppression is enough to make the maniac rambunctious. The damned sky is falling.

S.3178 - Justice for Victims of Lynching Act of 2018 was introduced by Kamala Harris last June. On December 19 it passed the Senate by a voice vote. According to Charlie Butts at American Family Association:
… Liberty Counsel founder Mat Staver says it passed without some senators realizing an amendment was added providing special rights for homosexuals and transgenders.

He calls that amendment the proverbial camel's nose under the tent.
Apparently freedom from lynching is a “special right.” Who knew? What has Mad Mat agitated is this part:
“(A) IN GENERAL.—If 2 or more persons, in any circumstance described in subparagraph (B), willfully cause bodily injury to any other person because of the actual or perceived religion, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, or disability of any person—

“(i) each shall be imprisoned not more than 10 years, fined in accordance with this title, or both, if bodily injury results from the offense; or

“(ii) each shall be imprisoned for any term of years or for life, fined in accordance with this title, or both, if death results from the offense or if the offense includes kidnapping or aggravated sexual abuse.
Charlie Butts continues:
"The old saying is once that camel gets the nose in the tent, you can't stop them from coming the rest of the way in," he [Staver] explains. "And this would be the first time that you would have in federal law mentioning gender identity and sexual orientation as part of this anti-lynching bill."
"So far they've been unsuccessful over the many years in the past," Staver observes, "but this is a way to slip it in under a so-called anti-lynching bill, and to then to sort of circle the wagon [sic] and then go for the juggler [sic] at some time in the future."
The last time I checked, the Senate is in Republican control. Nothing happens that McConnell does not approve of. You can be certain that his staff has informed him of every word, comma and period in the measure.

Clearly Staver sees LGBTQ people as an enemy who will “circle the wagon” and “go for the juggler.” That is very “Christian” of him.

I am confounded by the process. If a single wagon is circled then it is the wagon that is imperiled. Personally, I have never gone for a juggler. Perhaps I have been missing out on something.

Mad Mat tilting at windmills:
Staver tells OneNewsNow that Liberty Counsel is talking to lawmakers in the House in an effort to convince them to strip the bill of the amendment before taking a vote.
That will never happen. Democrats control the chamber and their caucus is pretty unified when it comes to LGBTQ issues. Staver knows that his effort is futile. This just gives him one more opportunity to spew his usual bigotry about L,G,B and T people.
