Bryan Fischer explains "homosexual privilege"

Bryan Fischer (American Family Association) is a crazy, far-right and bigoted Christian nationalist who promotes Christian Privilege and Christian Supremacy. Imagine my delight when I found that the two-watt bulb has written: The Problem Isn’t White Privilege, It’s Homosexual Privilege. Good to know. Well, we do have the privilege of being denied service for items as mundane as a floral arrangement.
Among Fischer's incoherent drivel is this paragraph:
I would submit the real problem today, in our culture and in our politics, is not in fact white privilege but homosexual privilege. Despite their constant claims to martyrdom and victimhood, homosexuals have an entire array of privileges and powers that are based exclusively on their private sexual preferences, and they are privileges and powers that normal people do not possess. Homosexuals must be catered to by wedding vendors and be catered to in housing and employment, or those who refuse to cater to them will be demonized, vilified, and sued until they’re broke or out of business.
Mr. Fischer is projecting. Despite their constant claims to martyrdom and victimhood, some religious conservatives claim to have an entire array of privileges and powers that are based exclusively on their superstitions, and they are privileges and powers that normal people do not possess. These are privileges that are not covered by the First Amendment's guarantee of Free Exercise. It is Christian Privilege based on Christian Supremacy.

Among these privileges are the self-constructed “rights” to defy state and municipal nondiscrimination laws in order to refuse service to people they do not approve of — neatly cloaked in scripture. This is based on their compulsion to demonstrate their disapproval. Bryan Fischer proposes that there is one set of laws for conservative Christians and another set of laws for everyone else. The general population demonstrates their disapproval by not financially supporting bigots.
Eventually Mayor Pete deserves some attention:
The “Buttigieg bump” would be impossible if he wasn’t a flamboyant homosexual. The blunt truth is that if Buttigieg wasn’t gay, nobody would even know who he is.
Flamboyant: (of a person or their behavior) tending to attract attention because of their exuberance, confidence, and stylishness. Mayor Buttigieg is, in fact, very confident. He should be! Fischer apparently doesn't know (or doesn't care) that Mayor Pete is a Harvard graduate and Rhodes scholar.

Buttigieg served as a naval intelligence officer, was deployed to Afghanistan and worked, for four years, for the most prestigious consulting firm in the United States. He is now in his second term as mayor of a city comprised of Trump supporters.

The mayor is the youngest and most energetic candidate and that engenders attention. Were he not gay he would not have an additional hill to climb owing to idiots like Mr. Fischer. Mr. Fischer does not care about Mayor Pete's qualifications. He is gay and that stops further evaluation.
Homosexuality was once rightly known as “the love that dare not speak its name.” Those days are long gone. Now it is not a career-killer but a resume enhancer. Due to the decaying morals of the Republic, we have now made it possible for a man to boldly sin his way right into the White House.
Sin and immorality are two very different things. Slavery and segregation were immoral but not sins. Homophobia and transphobia are immoral but not sins according to many religious sects. The purpose of religion is to provide a path to an afterlife. Follow the rules and you go to a better place when you crap out. When you don't follow the rules that is a sin.

The problem with this limited thinking is that the rules are very arbitrary. According to Hindus one cannot eat beef. Jews? No shrimp for you. Muslims direct their prayer towards Mecca. Among the four noble truths of Buddhism: Existence is suffering. Catholics have a different saint for all of life's challenges. Evangelical Christians believe that a bigot like Bryan Fischer is very moral. Conservative Jews believe that Fischer is immoral. So before we talk about sin, whose rules apply?

The same good Christians used to say (and probably continue to say) the same thing about Jews. Now they try to obfuscate their Antisemitism with Christian Zionism. Indeed, Bryan Fischer is associated with American Family Association. Its founder, Don Wildmon, is an Antisemitic fool. These same Bible Belt Calvinists were also racists for most of their existence. Today they all have amnesia. Who knows whether or not Fischer still holds Antisemitic and racist views in addition to his anti-LGBT animus? How about his Islamophobia?

AFA is very upset at being designated a hate group yet they still give a microphone to Mr. Fischer. Then they miraculously blame the Southern Poverty Law Center. Stupidity.
