American Vision offers evidence that it is a hate group

Asserting that LGBTQ people pose a peril to children as a means of framing anti-LGBTQ religious beliefs is a sure path to hate group status.
Gary DeMar
Apparently the Establishment Clause within  the First Amendment doesn't say precisely what it says.
Gary DeMar, head of American Vision, wrote: More Homosexual Penguins on Parade to Propagandize Children. I might be a penguin skeptic so I will skip that part, for now. According to Mr. DeMar:
Gary DeMar
Homosexuals have been able to convince many people that homosexual behavior is normal by some false analogies, bad science, and buckets of intimidation. Since most public schools do not teach students how to think, it’s no wonder that many young people fall for fallacious reasoning.
Relegating a sexual orientation that DeMar disapproves of to behavior is intellectually dishonest. The existence of sexual orientation as a continuum (with heterosexual and homosexual at the extreme ends) is settled science.

I suspect that, if I injected DeMar with “truth serum,” he would admit as much. Presumably DeMar doesn't want to be in the position of saying that gay people exist but they are not permitted — according to his interpretation of ancient chronicles — to have sex. Other Christians disagree.
Did you hear that there are now more than 100 genders? “The BBC has released a collection of educational videos for tykes between 9 and 12 years old. As per the instructional [videos], there are not 2, not 3 not 10, but more than 100 ‘gender identities.’… In one installment titled ‘Understanding Sexual and Gender Identities,’ kids are informed that gender is whatever ‘you are inside.’” Please tell me who the real anti-science people are. I suspect that scientists must keep their mouths shut for fear of losing their jobs.
The BBC video returns an out-of-area error message when I try to play it. DeMar links to a blog whose author hasn't watched it either. I tried my VPN's London server. No dice.

I requested a transcript. Perhaps one day they will respond. In any event, if the BBC claims that there are 100 genders that is incorrect.

There are an infinite number of genders because gender is a continuum with male and female at the extreme ends. Mr. DeMar probably knows that gender and natal sex are separate constructs but admission would require more of that sodium pentathol.

It has been my experience that the kids understand this concept even if Mr. DeMar does not.
In any other time and place, this would be regarded as insanity. Remember when we were told that there was a “gay gene.” That’s long gone as an explanation for same-sex behavior. If a person can be whatever he or she is “inside,” then genetics and sexual organs be damned.
Now, now. We/I have never claimed the existence of a gay gene. Never. Recent science has determined that a number of genes operating together influence sexual orientation. Once again, romantic attractions are not behavior. The last sentence in the above quote confirms my understanding that Mr. DeMar cannot appreciate sex and gender as separate constructs.

As for what is, or is not, “insanity,” some people assert that slavish devotion to ancient chronicles, including an unwavering belief in miracles that cannot be reproduced and obedience to an omnipotent-omniscient deity, constitutes a problem with mental hygiene.

I suppose that I am forced to confront the penguin issue:
Homosexual penguins have been a big thing for some time. There’s the book And Tango Makes Three, an illustrated children’s book about two male penguins that raise a baby penguin. It’s based on a true story of two male penguins in New York City’s Central Park Zoo that “adopt” a fertilized egg and raise the chick as their own.

Some concerned parents see the book as a homosexual propaganda piece and want it removed from the library’s regular shelves. A parent would have to consent before his or her child could check out the book. There’s no doubt that the book is being pushed as a homosexual primer to soften up young minds for the more scholarly propaganda that will come later.
In point of fact an exquisite diversity exists throughout nature. Creatures have a sexual orientation just as humans do. Teaching kids scientific truths is most certainly not propaganda. “Concerned parents?” They do exist. These are the same people who want public schools to teach the creationism fairytale as if it were science. If anything poses a peril to children it is the ignorance of some parents.

Eventually the children will learn that belief systems are based on faith while science is based on evidence. This will allow them to appreciate the difference between the two and to become critical thinkers.
How can we mere mortals impose our rules of sexual behavior on what’s natural in the animal kingdom? Homosexuals extrapolate that what animals do naturally in nature applies to what higher “animals” can do naturally without any moral judgments attached.
I hate when people try to put words in my mouth. The existence of gay animals only demonstrates that sexual orientation exists throughout nature. Again, if Mr. DeMar wants to make an argument that gay people do in fact exist but are required to be celibate then that is a different matter. And, yes, celibacy is the option because most gay people are not attracted to the opposite sex.

Furthermore, who is Mr. DeMar to make moral judgments? That seems rather arrogant to me. Are those based on scriptural literalism?

There are literally hundreds of Christian denominations in North America that are LGBT affirming. Even literalists are guilty of selective observation. Otherwise they would all be in prison for murdering insolent children, brides who are not virgins and countless others.

I respect expressions of religious belief providing that those are stated as matters of religious belief. Claiming that only “bad science” is inconsistent with those views. Claiming that evidence-based science is “insanity” is unwise. Claiming that the acceptance of LGBTQ people poses a threat to children is offensive and should not be part of a civil discussion.
