A Group of Kansas Legislators Seems Determined to Kill Kids

Welcome to Kansas
Recently there have been numerous bills introduced in state legislatures to outlaw gender-affirming care for gender incongruent children and adolescents. The Kansas version is HB-2210.

If enacted, doctors in Kansas can be imprisoned for up to 18 months and lose their license to practice medicine.

Typically people object to transgender persons in defense of Genesis 1:27.

The motivation is irrelevant. Gender-affirming care is the standard of care. The clinical practice guidelines of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Pediatric Endocrine Society, the Endocrine Society and numerous professional organizations call for the gender-affirming care model.

Hate Groups are Already Attacking the Awful Fairness for All Act

Hate Group Leader Tony Perkins
Fairness for All is a terrible compromise. Yet, any effort to reduce LGBTQ discrimination is opposed by the religious right.
In the way of background, the Fairness for All Act was first introduced by Rep. Chris Stewart (R-Utah) in the last session of Congress. It had eight Republican co-sponsors and no Democratic co-sponsors. According to supporters, the bill is a compromise between nondiscrimination and religious freedom.

According to Family Research Council the bill is to be reintroduced on Saturday.
The premise is nonsensical

Rep. Maria Elvira Salazar (R-FL-27) Fails the Test

Maria Elvira Salazar
via WLRN
The supposedly supportive GOPer voted against HR-5, the Equality Act. A phone call to Salazar's office made things worse.
Maria E. Salazar was considered (by some) to be a friend of the LGBTQ community. Salazar, who represents Florida's 27th Congressional District was a “no” vote on the Equality Act.

Three Republicans voted in favor of the Equality Act: Fitzpatrick of Pennsylvania along with Katko and Reed, both representing New York. Salazar succeeded Democrat, Donna Shalala who replaced Republican, Ileana Ros-Lehtinen after Ros-Lehtinen retired in 2019.

I Thought That I Wrote About the Most Extreme Reactions to HR5 - I Was WRONG!

Janet Folger Porter
A few months ago Batshit Janet was claiming that God would make sure that Donald Trump prevailed in the 2020 election. Then she claimed: "Trump Won. We will prove it." She has moved on to her usual anti-LGBTQ antics.
via YouTube
The deranged woman is desperately in need of risperdal!
Leave it to Janet Folger Porter to out wingnut the most virulent wingnuts. An email from Porter Thursday is titled: URGENT: Congress to vote on the Criminalization of Christianity TODAY. According to the text:
URGENT "NO" VOTE NEEDED TODAY:
So-called "EQUALITY ACT" would CRIMINALIZE CHRISTIANITY

Gallup: More People Identify As LGBT

via Gallup
The size of our community is irrelevant to the fact that we are entitled to equal protection and due process. We demand nothing less and we want nothing more.
According to a recent Gallup poll, 5.6% of the adult population is estimated to be L,G,B or T. That is an increase from 4.5% in 2017. Five years prior, in 2012, the estimate was 3.5%.
Sexual orientation and gender identity are not contagious. Nor are they subject to the influence of others.
I was careful in the wording of my headline. The percentage of people who are gay probably remains unchanged over decades. The percentage of people who suffer from gender incongruence remains unchanged as well.

Yet Another Equality Act Whopper

Actually reading the bill in question would be more constructive than spreading gossip.
According to LifeSiteNews Raymond Wolfe is a “faithfully Catholic journalist and researcher” which means that he is currently unemployed. Wolfe used to work for Austin Ruse (C-Fam).

Raymond Wolfe might be Raymond Michael Wolfe III. If not I can expect a nasty (although warranted) email.

Mr. Wolfe delights us with 5 things to know about the anti-family Equality Act that could pass this week. I think that correct grammar dictates “which could pass this week” but I am no expert.

Among the five things is this:

Some of the "Best" Unhinged Hyperbole Over the Equality Act

Demolition Derby
In the long term, unhinged and dishonest opposition to the Equality Act is likely to constitute a self-inflicted wound.
via KTTN
A demolition derby of The Stupid.
The Equality Act will add sexual orientation and gender identity as protected classes to the Civil Rights Act of 1964. The Supreme Court has already banned employment discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity with the ruling in Bostock v. Clayton County.

There are several protections afforded by the Equality Act. The most meaningful protection (now that workplace discrimination is settled) is discrimination in public accommodations (“We don't serve your kind here!”) A vote in the House is possibly scheduled for tomorrow, February 25, 2021. It will be interesting to see if any Republicans vote in the affirmative.

However the Equality Act is DOA in the Senate unless one of three things happens:
  1. Either the Senate changes to the rules to eliminate requiring 60 votes for cloture or;
  2. the Equality Act is tracked onto a budget measure. Known as reconciliation, only a majority is required for cloture.
  3. or;
  4. Schumer and McConnell reach some sort of compromise (highly unlikely) by which the bill passes without changing the rules.

Amazon Whacks Ryan T. Anderson's Bigoted Book

Ryan T. Anderson
via YouTube
According to Family Research Council, Ryan T. Anderson's transphobic book is no longer being sold by Amazon.com:
Ryan Anderson didn't even know his book had been pulled. There was no warning, no notification from Amazon that the title had been removed. A reader tipped him off when he tried to buy a copy and couldn't. That's strange, Ryan thought, logging on to Amazon to see for himself. Sure enough -- his bright blue and pink book cover, When Harry Became Sally, had been replaced with a message: this is no longer a functioning page. Because at Amazon, free speech is no longer a functioning principle.
Oh the poor dear. Amazon.com has every right to establish a criteria for the books that it sells. Bigoted anti-LGBTQ religious works masked as science are at peril of being removed from Amazon's virtual shelves.

Opposing the Equality Act With Transphobia and "Special Privileges"

Travis S. Weber
Travis S. Weber, a VP of Family Research Council is an anti-LGBTQ bigot who seems to be particularly obsessed over transgender people.
via The Advocate circa 2016
Family Research Council, an anti-LGBTQ hate group has mixed feelings about the Equality Act:
  • On one hand the Equality Act is great for fundraising. Prime motivators to get people to open their wallets are fear and anger. FRC has always been expert at pissing people off and making them fear LGBTQ people.
  • On the other hand Hate Group Leader Tony Perkins is wed to the proposition that he has, not just a right, but an obligation to discriminate against LGBTQ people. The Equality Act, in his view, punishes him for his religious beliefs prejudice.

Focus Affiliate Just Flat-Out Lies About Trans Youth

Meridian Baldacci
Meridian Baldacci | via Instagram
Family Policy Alliance is the political wing of Focus on the Family. Monday their Meridian Baldacci writes: America’s Children Need YOU. “YOU” being conservative Christians who do not approve of LGBTQ people.
According to Ms. Baldacci:
When children are struggling to embrace their biological sex, they are pushed to pursue cross-sex hormones and sterilizing surgery to “transition” to living as the opposite sex – advice that minimizes the dangerous long-term effects of such a decision and shuts out alternatives.
Gender incongruent children do not struggle to “embrace their biological sex.” They struggle when some people do not treat them according to their gender. It is a scientific fact that when natal sex and gender are incongruent, gender prevails. Were that not the case then gender dysphoria would not exist.

Furthermore, children are never “pushed” to transition. Children with gender dysphoria are inexorably drawn to transition. They transition because doing so offers relief from the anxiety and depression associated with gender dysphoria. The notion that they are following advice is idiotic.

Florida Legislator Wants To Criminalize Gender-Affirming Care

Anthony Sabatini
With no applicable training and experience, Florida House Rep. Anthony Sabatini proposes to substitute his judgment for that of professional clinicians.
via Florida Politics
Anthony Sabatini has represented District 32 in the Florida State House of Representatives since 2018. Sabatini likes to generate “Look-At-Me!” noise. Sabatini has now introduced HB-935 which, if enacted into law, would criminalize gender-affirming care and exclude trans girls from competing in high school athletics.

In 2020 Sabatini filed a nearly identical bill (without the ban on trans girls in athletics), HB-1365. It died in the Health Quality Subcommittee.

NOM: Big Fight - Send Money!

David Cicilline
Congressman David Cicilline (D-RI) has re-introduced the Equality Act (his fourth time doing so). Religious conservatives are apoplectic over the likelihood of passage which is being promoted by President Biden.

One day after re-introduction of the Equality Act in the House was all that was required for Brian S. Brown to have a shit fit over the curtailment of discrimination.
As expected Brown doesn't like the measure

Brian S. Brown's Igor Is Having a Transphobic Tantrum

Joseph Grabowski
Joseph Grabowski
via International Organization for the Family
“In their upside-down world view, teaching kids to be kind and understanding is bad. Teaching them to hate others because they are different is virtuous.”
Thursday, Joseph Grabowski offers Transgender kids’ book sparks outrage on behalf of International Organization for the Family, an anti-LGBTQ hate group. The genius adds a subtitle which reads: “Unfortunately, this kind of ideology-driven curriculum is becoming increasingly typical around the country, and is impacting every age group.”

“Unfortunately” Mr. Grabowski is a Christian extremist who chooses to believe:
  1. Transgender people do not really exist. Those people “who identify as transgender” are just “confused” people who make very bad choices.
  2. Gender dysphoria is somehow contagious.

Important Notice From the Endocrine Society For Trans Men

The Risk
According to a bulletin from the Endocrine Society:

A potentially dangerous side effect of testosterone therapy for transgender men is an increase in red blood cells that can raise the risk of blood clots, heart attack or stroke, according to a new study published in the Endocrine Society’s Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism.

Katy Faust's Baffling Bullshit - With Some Help From Another Extremist

Katy Faust
Wednesday, John-Henry Westen, a religious fanatic with LifeSiteNews, asks: Can I attend my grown-up child’s same-sex ‘wedding’? Westen interviews Katy Faust who, in the process of smearing gay people, attempts — yet again — to insulate herself from accusations of bigotry.

The video is about 30 minutes long. I'll not put my brain cells in that much peril. “Fortunately,” Westen provides a commentary.
[Faust's] work began after 2012 when the debate on homosexual “marriage” intensified and she heard many people pushing false narratives such as that children do not need a mother and father, and that because one stands for the traditional family they are automatically considered to be bigots.

A Conversation With Rumble - A Conservative Alternative To YouTube

The right-of-center platform does not provide a right to smear.
Vimeo used to be a place of sanctuary for organizations whose accounts got whacked by YouTube. These days the “chosen one” for conservatives is Rumble. Rumble does not appeal to me but no one is forcing me to watch its content.

Wednesday's “leaderboard” includes videos from familiar right wing personalities. At the top of the list of providers is Dan Bongino, followed by Diamond & Silk. Then there are two offerings from Dinesh D'Souza. The propaganda peddlers are odious but that's just my opinion.

Breitbart Polemicist Offended By a Cartoon

This goes into the Give Me a Fucking Break category.
Breitbart's Warner Todd Huston is terribly distraught that the above cartoon includes:

Anti-Trans Legislation in Mississippi and North Dakota

Emily Fishbaugh is a trans teen. What are they so afraid of?
via Emily Fishbaugh

These bills have little to do with athletics. They are a means of expressing religious disapproval.
Mississippi and North Dakota are in the process of enacting laws that prohibit trans girls and women from participating in athletics.

The Mississippi Fairness ActSB 2536 – would require any public school, public institution of higher learning, or an institution of higher learning “that is a member of the NCAA, NAIA, MHSAA or NJCCA [sic] to designate its athletic or sports teams according to biological sex.”

I doubt that the legislature can alter the practices of a private college or university. The NJCCA is actually the NJCAA, the National Junior College Athletic Association. The NAIA is the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics. MHSAA is the Michigan High School Athletic Association. Huh?

Heritage Foundation Continues to Smear Trans Youth

Dr. David Bell
Dr. David Bell
via The Times of London
For the Heritage Foundation, Nicole Russell writes ‘Transition’ Treatment Harms Kids, Veteran Psychiatrist at UK Gender Clinic Says. Ms. Russell is obsessed with transgender people due to a religious objection to their existence. Scripture prevails in spite of Russell's effort to falsely project her objections as secular secular in nature.

Not exactly compelling:
Children “have been very seriously damaged” in receiving treatment at the United Kingdom’s premier gender identity facility, a former psychiatrist there says in a bombshell interview.

Dr. David Bell faced disciplinary action after writing an internal report in 2018 raising concerns about procedures at The Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust, which operates the U.K.’s sole “Gender Identity Development Service.”
We have noisy crackpot doctors in this country too. Bell has published at least a dozen articles to respectable peer-reviewed academic journals. However, he has never published research regarding LGBTQ people.

I Cannot Imagine Why YouTube Whacked LifeSite

LifeSiteNews
via LifeSiteNews website
“Perhaps we should warn local flight schools.”
I have been unable to convince the Southern Poverty Law Center that LifeSiteNews is a hate group. I have not given up because LSN is one of the most odious sources of anti-LGBTQ bigotry on the Internet. Aside from that, it is still pushing election conspiracy theories and advising readers not to get vaccinated against COVID.

I received an email this morning from their John-Henry Weston titled: BREAKING: We have been completely removed form [sic] YouTube!

NOM Has Gone All Anti-Trans All the Time - Revisiting Prop 8

NOMnuts
The latest email from Brian S. Brown/National Organization for Marriage is titled: what these athletes have in common. Photos depict a diminutive cisgender girl and supposedly transgender girls with exaggerated physiques. There exist girls and women who have similar physiques. Yet that is irrelevant.

Before I get into this further:
  1. None of this has anything to do with Brown's concern for the welfare of children.
  2. None of this has anything to do with fairness in athletics.

Just How Fucking Petty Can a Hate Group Be?

via Mattel Inc/American Girl
The title of American Family Association's email reads: American Girl Refuses to Remain Neutral in Culture War. The missive is from AFA's One Million Moms. It is signed by Monica Cole who is the manager of what is essentially a virtual hate group.

According to the State of Mississippi One Million Moms is neither a corporation nor an assumed name. If any of you are in Mississippi you could incorporate One Million Moms and AFA would have a problem.

But here's the good stuff:
Conservative parents are outraged! American Girl released its first doll with an accompanying book that has an LGBTQ storyline. This is unacceptable!

Walt Heyer Crawls Out From the Woodwork Again

Walt Heyer is the nation's leading professional anti-transgender crank. Friday, Mr. Heyer explains: I Know What Happens To The Kids in ‘Transhood’, Because It Happened To Me:
Walt Heyer
A new HBO Max documentary, “Transhood,” follows for five years the lives of four Kansas City, Mo. children who believe they are the opposite sex.

I identified as a “transgender woman” for eight years. Today, watching this documentary, I marvel at how the events of my childhood groomed me into believing that identifying as the opposite sex was the solution to my gender confusion. My heart goes out to these children who also are being groomed into a transgender life.
Walt, you haven't the first clue
Some mebers of the LGBTQ community have criticized Transhood. I disagree. It has been out for three months now. Watch it and judge for yourself.

Michelle Cretella Has Shifted Back to Smearing Gay People

The trans-obsessed former pediatrician is now claiming that gay people are crappy parents.
Michelle Cretella brought to you by the amazing folks at American Family Association, an anti-LGBTQ hate group. The polemic is titled: What's best for kids isn't 'prejudicial discrimination.'

How many times must we debunk this stupidity. If you think that AFA or Cretella are really concerned for the welfare of kids you are mistaken. Cretella, who is also a hate group leader (American College of Pediatricians) is a fundamentalist Catholic who believes that gay people are “objectively disordered.”

Cretella also believes the idiotic crap that is promoted by the Vatican including the notion that we do violence to children by placing them with gay people:

Brian S. Brown Reaches a New Level of Bigotry

Brian S. Brown
Apparently evil LGBTQ activists are responsible for turning kids trans.
We used to turn kids into raving homosexual creatures but that accusation is out of fashion. It has been retooled. Now we are turning kids into transgender youth. Exactly why we would do so will remain a mystery.

Brian S. Brown has sent out a new moneybeg for International Organization for the Family, an anti-LGBTQ hate group. Brown starts off by recounting how gay activists “glittered” homophobes — including Brown. People did in fact do so.

It was a perfectly harmless means of demonstrating contempt for odious people engaged in odious behavior. It pales in comparison to denying people service in public accommodations or denying opportunity in the workplace based upon sexual orientation and gender identity. It is also nowhere near the harmfulness of intentionally misgendering someone.

Hard to Tell If Tony Perkins is Lying, Confused - or Both

Tony Perkins
One thing is for sure: He is wrong, yet again.
Hate Group Leader Tony Perkins of Family Research Council: New Study Shows Transgender Players Have Advantage in Women’s Sports. Not really. Transgender participation in high school sports is a controversy used as a proxy for attacking transgender kids and transgender accommodations in public schools. The religious right has no interest whatsoever in addressing the issue. In fact, doing so in a meaningful way would contaminate their talking point.

The religious right — to the best of my knowledge — has never claimed that transgender collegiate athletes have an unfair advantage. Doing so would dilute their discontent.

This has absolutely nothing to do with fairness in athletic competitions.
What this noise is really all about is marginalizing gender-diverse people who, according to Christian literalists, insult scripture.
Perkins “explains:”

Hate Group: Transgender People Put EVERYONE in Danger

Tim Wildmon
Unhinged and bigoted
Hate Group Leader Tim Wildmon of American Family Association

via Jackson Free Press
Confirmation of precisely why American Family Association is deemed a hate group
The email from American Family Association is titled: President's action puts America's women and children at risk. AFA has provided a hodgepodge of extremist transphobia.

Is there any evidence that a transgender woman has ever harmed a cisgender female? Yet AFA persists in promoting bigotry:
President Joe Biden has issued an executive order that puts women and children in grave danger. By signing his directive, "Combating Discrimination on the Basis of Gender Identity," the president is allowing men to go into women's restrooms and changing areas on federal property, including any public high school and university that receives federal funding.
They manage to display more stupidity, absurdity and hate:

According to Nadine Smith who is the executive director of Equality Florida:
We WON!

I’m so incredibly excited to announce one of the biggest victories in Equality Florida’s history!

Another Hate Group is a Church According to the IRS

Family Research Council, an anti-LGBTQ hate group, is now considered to be a church. As such the organization is no longer required to file an annual report with the Internal Revenue Service. We all subsidize nonprofit organizations. We expect transparency in return. That is supposed to be achieved with the filing of an annual report (Form 990) with the Service which is available for public inspection.

This move also renders FRC virtually audit-proof. FRC controls a 501(c)4 nonprofit, FRC Action. Donations to FRC Action are not tax deductible. FRC now has the ability to provide their 501(c)4 with money that has been deducted from donors' taxable income. It is still impermissible to do so but its not terribly complicated to divert funds.

Anti-LGBTQ Hyperbole: "Biden terrorizes Africa"

Frederico Cenci
Frederico Cenci
via International Organization for the Family
Apparently the African continent is going to suffer mightily. At least that's what professional Catholic Frederico Cenci claims. On behalf of International Organization for the Family, an anti-LGBTQ hate group run by Brian S. Brown Mr Cenci provides: Biden terrorizes Africa. People who support science and equality pose a danger due to some nefarious agenda that they pursue.
Biden announced the appointment to the administration of [USAID] of Samantha Power. She is a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and diplomat who, during Barack Obama’s presidency, had a role on the National Security Council where she stood out for her support of the LGBT+ cause, among other activities.
Samantha Power was our ambassador to the UN between 2013 and 2017. There is a great deal more to Ms. Power than LGBTQ matters. In 2015 Power did make a speech at Harvard in acceptance of an award: Remarks by Ambassador Samantha Power on Making LGBT Rights Universally Respected Human Rights. Those remarks included:

Iowa, Uranus

Welcome to Iowa
Five Iowa state representatives, none of whom are physicians, have sponsored a measure that would outlaw pediatric gender-affirming medical care. They are Sandy Salmon, Jeff Shipley, Anne Osmundson, Skyler Wheeler and Bobby Kaufmann. All five are Republicans.

I sent these geniuses an email as a media inquiry. My terse text was admittedly rhetorical in nature which limits the potential of receiving a reply. What can I tell you? I get pissed off when farmers, plumbers and small business owners presume to be qualified to make medical decisions adverse to the wellbeing of children.
My missive:

Yes, I Have Auditory Hallucinations

Mental health
If you saw my tweet today, in response to Jack Turban, I do have auditory hallucinations. I have been candid about my mental health for two reasons:
  1. It is a consequence of PTSD a consequence of gun violence.
  2. People with mental health issues are underserved by our medical system.
The important thing to understand is that, in no way do these hallucinations affect my behavior in any meaningful way. In all candor, years ago that was not the case. In Manhattan I drove the staff of my building nuts trying to find a disturbing noise that I subsequently realized did not exist.

According to Brian S. Brown Trans People Are Very Expensive

National Organization for Marriage
“Transgender people pose a significant danger to society. However, if you send us enough money Earth will not spin off its axis.”
Perhaps we should put a price tag on religious extremism.
I received a new missive from Brian S. Brown on behalf of National Organization for Marriage titled: gender ideology costs billions…. Brown likes all lower case with a gratuitous “…” .

“Gender ideology is” is a construct of religious extremists. The intent is to dishonestly relegate gender identity to a philosophy, secular dogma or a doctrine. They do so in defense of scripture. It is equivalent to insisting that 2 + 2 = 5.

The science on gender identity and gender incongruence conflicts with Brown's fanciful notions. It includes:
