Mad Mat Staver endorses Trump's racism

If you think that there is a certain decency to conservative Christians, you would be wrong.
Trump enabler and hate group leader Mad Mat Staver
via YouTube/CBN
Hate Group Leader Mad Mat Staver of Liberty Counsel has an interesting take on Donald Trump's recent racism. Staver uses Rep. Rashida Tlaib as a lead-in to his latest quest for (supposedly tax deductible) donations. Ostensibly these are for his Christians in Defense of Israel. However, that entity is not tax-exempt according to the IRS:
It’s not enough for U.S. Rep. Rashida Tlaib to blast President Donald Trump for fake racism—as she and the entire House Democratic caucus did on Tuesday. (I deplore and condemn racism in any form, but President Trump’s Tweet was about those who hate America and Israel—not race).

FRC has enemies, enemies and more enemies

Tony Perkins
via YouTube/Fox News
Thursday, I received an email from Hate Group Leader Tony Perkins of Family Research Council. The subject reads: The Left Doesn't Take Summer Vacations. Who knew? The plea is for FRC Action, the 501(c)4 so donation are not tax deductible. Anyway, Tony Perkins is asking for money to pursue FRC's anti-LGBT, anti-choice, anti-immigrant, anti-Muslim agenda. Oh but he and his organization are pro-Trump.

So far today no evangelical Christian organization has uttered so much as a peep about Trump's indecent racism — but I digress.
The Evildoers:
Funds for anti-faith, anti-family groups like Planned Parenthood, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), and the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) keep flowing into their bulging coffers year-round.

"Targeted for Her Faith?" Seriously?

Barronelle Stutzman surrounded by supporters (choreographed by Alliance Defending Freedom) in 2016. The woman is enthralled by the attention.
via Elaine Thompson/AP
The hate group Alliance Defending Freedom is trying to raise money off of the floral bigot, Barronelle Stutzman. An unsigned email, Wednesday, asserts in the subject line “Targeted for Her Faith.” It goes on to ask: “Will you rally around Barronelle once again?” Translation: Will you send us some money which we might, or might not, use to press Stutzman's case.

In 2013 Barronelle Stutzman decided that she would not sell flowers intended for display at a gay wedding “because of [her] relationship with Jesus Christ.” Actually, I think that Jesus would have been happy to sell the damned flowers. Stutzman's defiance of Washington's nondiscrimination law began a legal adventure that continues to this day.

No Ms. Higgins - Gender-affirming surgery is not comparable to a lobotomy

Laurie Higgins
Laurie Higgin, Illinois Family Institute (date unknown)
via Interframe Media
Tuesday, Laurie Higgins, of the hate group Illinois Family Institute, predicted that in the future we will regard gender-confirmation surgery like a lobotomy. Apparently Ms. Higgins is more erudite than the doctors comprising the behavioral health and surgical departments at Johns Hopkins Medicine.

If you think Higgins is genuinely concerned for the welfare of children, you would be wrong. Higgins is only genuinely concerned for the welfare of literalist Christianity. The existence of transgender people creates — for those literalists — a contradiction to a passage in Genesis. Ancient texts of questionable provenance must prevail over medical science. Of course.

Higgins exact quote to American Family Association (another hate group) was:
We are going to look back on this in 10 [or] 20 years the way we look back on lobotomies for mentally ill people, because this is ghastly what we're doing to children.

Peter Sprigg Gushes on Nicolosi

Even more damaging than the disapproval is to subject a child to conversion therapy. Conversion therapy is child abuse!
Peter Sprigg
via YouTube/NewsMax
Monday, I ignored Peter Sprigg's idiotic post on Family Research Council's blog. Among other things, Sprigg maintains that California attempted to ban the Bible. He is also confusing book banning with Amazon.com's decision not to sell certain books. People are free to purchase Joseph Nicolosi's books from other sellers.

Tuesday Sprigg is gushing over dead psychologist (and Catholic extremist), Joseph Nicolosi, who claimed that he could turn gay people straight (more or less) and that he could help parents prevent having a gay child (more or less). According to Peter Sprigg: Joseph Nicolosi on the Deep Need for Fatherly Affirmation. Boys and girls do need the affirmation of their father. That includes gay boys and girls.

Apparently most "LGBT folks are on board with pedophillia"

Matthew Hanley
Matthew Hanley is irrational, unbalanced in his extreme anti-LGBT bigotry.
Photo via CatholicThing
One Matthew Hanley has penned LGBT is swiftly being normalized. Pedophilia is next. At another site, the accusation is more direct; titled Adding P to LGBT. Hanley is just one more demented schmuck claiming that LGBT people pose a peril to children. According to the Catholic faith, one should not engage in gay sex. Adherents have some choices to make.

The faith does not require smearing LGBT people as pedophiles. I know at least one priest who would say that such behavior is discouraged, even sinful. That makes Matthew Hanley a bigoted fool. Does Mr. Hanley have underage fantasies? Does Hanley have repressed gay fantasies? Those questions are perfectly reasonable and appropriate. Homophobia, for example, is bigotry based on one's own sexual insecurities.

Anti-trans batshit du jour

Denise Shick
via YouTube
I do not know how — or even if — Denise Shick supports herself. Monday, Shick writes: I lost my dad the day he told me he wanted to become a woman. The purpose of this essay is to convince people that her personal experience is reason for no one to become transgender. In reality Shick has a religious objection, or so she claims.

The real question is what to do for children whose parent is transitioning. The answer is not to insist that the parent not do so but to provide some serious counseling for both parents and children together. We need to start with the fact that people who transition are in considerable distress from gender dysphoria. They are inexorably drawn to transition as a means of relieving their suffering.

How a hate group created Pompeo's Commission on Unalienable Rights

Mike Pompeo
via NPR
ADF International worked with Mike Pompeo for a year (and possibly longer) to create Pompeo's new Commission on Unalienable Rights. ADF International also defined what those “rights” are. ADF International is a separate entity but Alliance Defending Freedom (an anti-LGBT hate group) funds and controls the organization.

Pompeo's new group is headed by Mary Ann Glendon, a Harvard law professor and former ambassador to the Vatican under George W. Bush. Glendon represented the Vatican at the 1995 Beijing Conference on Women sponsored by the United Nations. Glendon's mission was to impose Catholic teachings on society. Notably, Glendon opposed the use of condoms to prevent HIV infection.

Dr. Michael Brown's Transgender Tango - Again

Dr. Michael Brown
Just to be clear, Dr. Michael Brown is not an MD. He has a Ph.D. in literature. Today's merry contribution from Brown is titled: The Great Transgender ‘Awokening.’ It is another example of the same nitwits making the same idiotic arguments denigrating transgender people because the existence of transgender people creates a conflict with scripture (according to the arguers).
It's not a very original argument:
The great enemy of the radical transgender movement is science. Biological realities can be stubborn, and no amount of human tampering can change those realities.

Complaint of dismissed Catholic school teacher Joshua Payne-Elliott (TWG)

TWG: Teaching While Gay. Hasn't the Church had enough bad publicity over employment discrimination?
Wednesday, lawyers for Joshua Payne-Elliott filed a complaint (below the fold) in Indiana Commercial Court accusing the Archdiocese of Indianapolis of interference in a valid contract between Mr. Payne-Elliott and Cathedral High School. Mr. Payne-Elliott had been in the employ of the school for nearly 13 years. I think that we can safely assume that he did a good job.

As you can see from the contract, Exhibit A, there is nothing in the text that would prohibit Mr. Payne-Elliott from entering into a same-sex marriage. The school did not want to terminate Joshua (I am fatigued with typing Payne-Elliott). They did so at the insistence of Archbishop Charles C. Thompson who threatened to revoke the school's Catholic charter if they did not comply. Joshua's job performance was never in question.

Mad Mat Staver: "Boston Censors Christian Flag but Allows Communist, Transgender Flags on Gov Property"

Mad Mat Staver
Hate group leader Mad Mat Staver - Liberty Counsel
via YouTube/Fox News
Thursday, Hate group leader Mat Staver of Liberty Counsel is asking rhetorical questions in a blog post. He has been representing Harold Shurtleff and something called Camp Constitution for two years now. Shurtleff has been trying to raise a Christian flag on a government flagpole and keeps getting rejected.

Staver is always pissed off at something or someone. Today it is the City of Boston. On July 8, Liberty Counsel filed suit in federal court (Boston) asking for summary judgment in favor of his client (the Christian flag flyer). Summary judgment means that no facts are in dispute — only issues of law.

Katy Faust has selective memory and a real fondness for lying

Katy Faust
Katy Faust seems unable to write a single paragraph without lying
via YouTube
This from Katy Faust: This Gay Dad Lost Custody of His Own Kids. His Case Matters for All Children.. This relates to a case that I had previously written about. I prefer to have the Supreme Court of the State of New York explain the matter (rather than Faust's misrepresentations):
Joseph and Frank were domestic partners who began living together in 2009. As they desired to have children genetically related to both of them, they asked Joseph's sister, Renee to act as a surrogate. … Renee executed a surrogacy contract in which she agreed to be impregnated with Frank's sperm and to terminate her parental rights…

…In early 2014, Joseph and Frank separated, and the children continued to reside with Frank. …in May 2014, Frank suddenly refused to allow Joseph or Renee to have any access to the children. In December 2014, Frank moved to Florida with the children without informing Joseph or Renee, or commencing a proceeding for custody of the children.

AFA's Walker Wildmon imitates his odious grandfather

Walker Wildmon
via YouTube/CBN
Control of the hate group, American Family Association, rests with the Wildmon family, descendants of its founder, Don Wildmon. Literalist Christians are not a terribly imaginative lot. Were they more ingenious they would not be literalist Christians. The effect is that they are unoriginal, content to rinse and repeat the rhetoric.

Walker Wildmon, Don's grandson, is rather dull — a dim bulb — but he is a VP or AFA. Based on his quoted words, AFA begins a polemic with a hackneyed rhetorical question: Has the LGBT movement overplayed its hand? Uh, probably not. The objective is Equal Protection. Nothing less and nothing more.

Brian S. Brown claims that protection from discrimination is damaging to those who are protected!

“It is just so utterly silly that I find it hard to believe that anyone can buy into this BS.”
Brian S. Brown
via YouTube/Fox News
The latest missive from Brian S. Brown is woefully titled: The Corporate Embrace of Gender Ideology. Brown will go to his grave dishonestly insisting that gender is an ideology — a doctrine or philosophy. Scientific evidence-based truths are irrelevant to Brown. The palace eunuchs at the Vatican know better.

An email from Brian S. Brown, on behalf of the anti-LGBT National Organization for Marriage, has only one objective. It is to entice people into donating some money to NOM — usually on false premises. The idea is to piss people off and then claim to have a solution if people will only be generous. However, Brown promises that NOM will use the donations to accomplish something that NOM cannot accomplish. Brown's mission is religious. In spite of all the sanctimony, Brown is quite content to be dishonest.

What makes these awful people think that they are qualified to opine on trans youth?

Linda Harvey - Mission America
Hate group leader Linda Harvey - Mission America
via YouTube
Tuesday, Linda Harvey writes: Medical establishment has betrayed children, parents with transgender insanity. Linda Harvey is an easy target. She is batshit crazy. She is also an ignoramus. Nevertheless, Ms. Harvey serves as an example of Christian zealots trying to alter medical science into conformity with their book. They assume that they have, and then posture to others as having, erudition that they do not possess.

I am not a medical doctor with a board certification in psychiatry either. However, the views I present conform to the overwhelming consensus of medical science including the American Academy of Pediatrics.
“I have a dream ”
In my dream, hundreds of parents, doctors, counselors, and pastors are protesting outside children's hospitals throughout America.

They keep protesting, not just for one day, but for months.

Good job boys: Chris Doyle hands off to Michael Brown who cites a study that he has provably not read

“Conversion therapy does not work and it is harmful. Were it not part of an agenda of discrimination it would cease to exist.”
Dr. Michael Brown
via YouTube
Once again, religious fanatic, Michael Brown, is claiming that conversion therapy works and is not harmful. The source of Brown's wisdom is a book by conversion therapy crackpot Christopher Doyle. Somewhere in Brown's makeup there remains — perhaps — a particle of inquisitiveness and critical thinking. After all, Brown does have a legitimate Ph.D. Those few remaining brain cells should inform Brown that a self-serving book is not the equal of peer-reviewed research published to a respectable academic journal.

Those remaining cells are in grave peril which is evidenced by the fact that Brown cites, as authoritative, a study so flawed that even the Catholic Medical Association journal, Linacre, required its retraction. Bear with me. I'll get there.

Priest: "Homofascists Force Amazon to Ban Catholic Clinician’s Books on Reparative Therapy"

Jules Gomes
Fr. Jules Gomes | via ChurchMilitant.com
The Rev. Jules Gomes, who sometimes goes by the moniker “Rebel Priest” is displeased with gay people in general and Amazon in particular. While Gomes claims a Ph.D. he is apparently baffled by medical science. Peter LaBarbera was complaining about this same issue.

Amazon is pretty clear about its policies as a book reseller. They offer, for example, some anti-Semitic works by (possibly former) Klansman (and buddy of Tony Perkins) David Duke including Jewish Supremacism: My Awakening to the Jewish Question ($58.50). I did not know that there was a Jewish question.

At issue is Joseph Nicolosi, the dead Catholic psychologist. Nicolosi not only claimed that he could “cure” homosexuality but he published a book providing instructions to parents on how to avoid having a gay child. Nicolosi was odious to say the least.

Oops: "We Fought the Transgender Activists, and Lost..."

The tirade is from someone named Kristen Allen and she has penned 5 Lessons for Every Parent. The outlet for this gibberish is Heritage Foundation's blog. We are informed that Allen is a member of the Arlington Parent Coalition. The Arlington Parent Association (APC) is a small anti-LGBT group presumably of conservative Christian origin.

What Ms. Allen finds so upsetting is transgender accommodations in Arlington, Virginia's schools. It's a safe bet that Ms. Allen has a religious objection to the existence of transgender people. The Catholic Church recently released an anti-trans screed: “Male and Female He Created Them.” The title refers to a passage in Genesis.

Brian S. Brown is trying his best - through his own confusion

What are the odds of Brian S. Brown making a compelling and intellectually honest argument in opposition to marriage equality?
Brian S. Brown
via YouTube/Fox News
Yup, Brian S. Brown, on behalf of National Organization for Marriage, is recycling the losing arguments in Obergefell v. Hodges while arguing over something that has absolutely nothing to do with same-sex marriage. So what's the point? You know what the point is:
Translation: Send us some money that we will piss away. I wish that Brown could be briefer with his BS:
When the US Supreme Court imposed same-sex 'marriage' on the nation in 2015 in their illegitimate Obergefell ruling, many legal scholars predicted that the decision would upend a rash of legal doctrines. Justice Samuel Alito warned his fellow justices about unforeseen consequences that would emerge from their improper redefinition of marriage to suit the desires of same-sex couples. Boy was he right. A new case currently seeking Supreme Court review reveals one of the most fundamental issues raised by the redefinition of marriage – our understanding of parenthood.

Mehlman's Amicus Brief - A Summary of the Three Cases

Ken Mehlman
Kenneth B. Mehlman, Chairman, Republican National Committee, 2005-2007
via Mother Jones
Ken Mehlman has submitted an amicus brief (“below the fold”) to the United States Supreme Court for a group of prominent Republicans who assert that Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 applies to sexual orientation and gender identity. Interestingly, most of these people served in the George W. Bush administration.

The Supreme Court has consolidated three cases for oral argument on October 8, 2019. They are (forgive the cut and paste; summaries folllow):

No Brian S. Brown - You have no clue what socialism is

Brian S. Brown
Brian S. Brown, 2017
via YouTube
Brian S. Brown, on behalf of the hate group, International Organization for the Family, has a new dollar-desire out today with the subject line The right to abortion for "trans females." Brown correctly notes that transgender women are not capable of getting pregnant and, thus, do not require access to abortion. The subject line is just to get attention for:
“Help IOF” means send me some money!
It is Brown's idea of socialism that gets my attention:

Oreos Transgender "Indoctrination"

According to Joy Pullmann a massive sinister conspiracy is afoot to, well, as she put it: ‘Special’ LGBT-Edition Oreos Indoctrinate Kids About Trans Pronouns. Pullmann, who is best known for senseless opposition to Common Core, offers “oh, the horror of it all:”
Oreo cookies, a division of international foods giant Nabisco, announced yesterday a “special” LGBT edition that includes lectures about how to use transgender pronouns.

Batshit California pastor claims that a sermon of his is now illegal

Shane Idleman
California pastor Shane Idleman
via YouTube
I have neither the time nor spare brain cells to watch an hour's worth of Shane Idleman. Idleman is either dishonest or an idiot (some of you instantly said “or both” to yourselves). Here is the beginning of Idleman's sermon:
The title of the message this morning is confronting sin in the church and it probably should have renamed it to this sermon is illegal in California. Now I don't know if you've been paying attention to the news but they did pass legislation. I don't know what's going to happen there. It's a Assembly Bill where you cannot say that certain sexual sin is a sin. You have to actually embrace it and encourage people in their sexual sin or you'll be penalized. Christian counselors pastors. California has lost its mind and so is the rest of the nation what they're saying is it's because of the high suicide rate the high suicide rate is because you're not giving people hope hope in Jesus Christ …

If Sprigg is so certain, why does he have to lie all the time?

Peter Sprigg
Peter Sprigg's lies take advantage of his incurious constituency
via YouTube/Newsmax
Peter Sprigg is the LGBTQ “expert” for hate group Family Research Council. Sprigg has all the answers and exudes certitude. Yet, Sprigg is always wrong. Sprigg, a Baptist Minister, is supremely confident and dependably wrong because the source of his “knowledge” about human sexuality is Bronze Age texts of dubious provenance.

Another hate group, American Family Association, has a post on its blog obnoxiously titled: Green Mountain State proposes to offer mutilation surgeries to minors. Peter Sprigg is the source of AFA's erudition (which doesn't say much for their discernment):

Religious Right Website is Keeping a Penis Count

Hunter Schafer
Trans Woman Hunter Schafer plays Jules Vaughn on HBO's Euphoria
via FamousPeople
The religious right are obsessed with HBO's Euphoria. The show provides a view of high school students as they deal with drugs, sex and other issues. One of the more interesting aspects of the show is the debut of Hunter Schafer. Schafer, a transgender woman, is an LGBTQ activist and model. Her fully supportive father, Mac Schafer, is a pastor and head of staff at Hudson Memorial Presbyterian Church in Raleigh, NC.
